Emblem
Description. Azure
a woolbooger passant proper holding in dexter paw a bamboo billet and in
sinister a broken arrow and annulet all or, all within a diminished bordure of
the last between two scrolls of the field letter or. Significance.
The emblem is symbolic of the squadron.
The animal is nicknamed "Wooly booger" and is a composite of
the attributes of the following: The body of the the tiger signifies strength;
the claws of a monkey denotes tenacity; the head of a crocodile signifies
ferocity; the ears of a rabbit symbolize early warning listening devices.
The result of successful application of these assets is thwarted enemy
threats (represented by the broken arrow) from the sky, symbolized by the blue
field. The bamboo billet in the
right paw alludes to the squadron's service in Vietnam.
The billet and the annulet in the left form the number "10" and refer
to the fact that the 620th was one of the original ten radar installations in
Vietnam and Thailand. The emblem
bears the National colors and the Air Force colors of gold and ultramarine blue.
