TERM   DEFINITION
IFF   Identify Friend from Foe.  A system, developed in World War II which allows an aircraft to identify itself to ground radars equipped with IFF receivers.  An aircrat equipped with IFF and Selective Identification Feature, or SIF, could transmit an electronic code indicating precisely
squawk flash   An air traffic control/pilot radio term meaning "switch your IFF transponder to "FLASH".  Squawking flash resulted in the aircrafts IFF paint appearing on the controllers terminal with significant enough intensity to distinguish it from other traffic.

CRP   Control & Reporting Post
PACAF   Pacific Air Force
FAC   Forward Air Controller
CAS   Close Air Support
TIC   Troops in Contact (or Combat)
TACAN   Tactical Air Navigation (a navigational aid which transmits a signal that provides a line of site range and azimuth from an aircraft to a stationary site.  TACAN sites are called Channels are identified by number such as Channel 45.
