the 505th TCMS who established and operated the Direct Air Request Net. The mission of Packrats was to perate
and maintain tactical air control parties for the Direct Air Request Net and provide field maintenance capability for

Description of
the construction, operation, and eventual destruction of a TACAN and
Bombing Radar site atop a mountain in Laos near the North Vietnamese
border. The loss of LS 85 was the largest single loss of life
by the USAF during Vietnam and resulted in the posthumous award of
an Air Force Cross.
