PLAYBOY Control and Reporting Post (CRP)
Detachment 8, 619th TCS
Ca Mau, RVN

An Overview

Playboy Control was activated on August 10, 1965 and remained operational until May 15, 1968.  Located deep in the delta region on the southern tip of South Vietnam and well inside Viet Cong territory, Playboy was blasted off the air by a mortar attack during the Tet Offensive. The decision was made to deactivate the site rather than replace it because of the installation of other radars with increased range located in more secure areas.
