Drinking Pol |
We were invited to share their "pol" which, if memory serves, was a fermented rice concoction in a huge crock. Sips were taken through 2-3 foot long straws. It was considered bad form to only have a little. Negotiating the notched log entry/exit was a challenge.

Villagers |
Bob Kirkwood on the left, our guide, and 2 veterans. The fellow on the far right pulled up his shirt to proudly display numerous scars.

Mamasan |
Picture was taken from the front gate of the Darlac. I expect the nearest village was several miles away. She has just left the central market a few blocks away and is loaded up.
