Scott Harrington was part of the crew from the 5th Tac, 605th TCS from Clark AB, Philippines, who set up Waterboy in Nov. 1965.
Mike Donahue, Devastate Delta, Oct. 66 - Oct. 67 contributed a description of life at Dong Ha.
Ken,
I was a controller at Dong Ha (Waterboy #10) from 10 Jun 68 through 30
Sep 69. Yes, I did extend for the 'free' 30 day vacation anywhere in
the world if I pulled another tour. Dong Ha got hit by a 'hell-of-a'
typhoon in early September 69, and with the pullout of the 3rd Marine Division
from that area, the decision was made to relocate the Waterboy personnel to Son Tra (I was
Panama 32 from 1 Oct 69 through 5 Jan 70).
We had a reunion of some of the 620th TCS controllers at Tyndall in June
96 and are planning a 620th TCS reunion in the summer of 99 in
Albuquerque.
Would like to help putting some of the information together concerning
operations there, as well as the 620th TCS operations. Let me know what
I can do. I can be reached at gpyfrom@vines.littondsd.com.
